AI & Generative AI Policy

The Journal of Pharmaceutical and Applied Science (JPAAS) recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI tools may assist researchers and authors during the preparation of scholarly manuscripts. However, their use must be responsible, transparent, and consistent with research integrity.

Use of AI Tools

Authors may use AI-assisted tools for limited purposes such as:

  • Improving language and grammar

  • Enhancing clarity and readability

  • Assisting with formatting or organization

  • Supporting non-substantive editing

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and content of their submitted manuscript.

Disclosure of AI Use

If generative AI or AI-assisted tools have been used substantially in preparing a manuscript, authors should disclose the use of such tools in the manuscript or during submission, where appropriate.

The disclosure should indicate the tool used and the purpose for which it was used.

AI and Authorship

AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of a manuscript. Authors remain responsible for all content submitted to the journal, including content generated or modified with the assistance of AI tools.

Accuracy and Verification

Authors must carefully review and verify any content produced with the assistance of AI tools. AI-generated information may contain inaccurate statements, fabricated references, or other errors. Authors are responsible for checking all facts, citations, data, and references before submission.

Confidentiality

Authors, reviewers, and editors should avoid entering confidential, unpublished, or sensitive manuscript information into AI tools where doing so could compromise confidentiality or intellectual property.

Misuse of AI

The use of AI tools to fabricate data, generate false references, manipulate research findings, impersonate authors or reviewers, or otherwise misrepresent scholarly work is not acceptable.

JPAAS reserves the right to request clarification regarding the use of AI tools when necessary to protect the integrity of the publication process.
